  • Overview

    Goodwill has an opening for a GoodCare Coach. This position is responsible for conducting eligibility, administering multiple assessments, reviewing assessments with participants, and developing a career plan with the participants.  Using an established curriculum, the Coach will facilitate work readiness and life skills training and will coordinate the necessary supportive services for participants to successfully complete foundational training.  The Coach will also evaluate participant progress in the program, provide one-to-one life coaching of participants, write progress reports, and perform other duties as required.

    Responsibilities

    • Promote the program locally to attract qualified participants.
    • Administer a variety of assessments to determine career interests, career aptitude, life skills and other core competencies and interpret results to assist participants in developing career plans.
    • Conduct life skills and work readiness workshops at multiple sites using an established curriculum
    • Coach participants in achieving stated program objectives.
    • Assess participants to measure progress and evaluate training effectiveness.
    • Provide feedback to instructional team on the effectiveness of work readiness and life skills curriculum
    • Develop workshop schedules and share with necessary staff
    • Maintain necessary records of participant enrollment, attendance, and progress. Prepare and submit reports as required.
    • Maintain confidentiality as it pertains to all learners.
    • Report to immediate supervisor and/or other appropriate personnel any condition which might jeopardize the health or safety of participants or the public.
    • Attend meetings and professional development opportunities.
    • Keep current with new developments and knowledge in adult learning techniques
    • Perform other duties as directed.

    Qualifications

    Experience, Competencies and Education

    Bachelor’s degree or experience in coaching or training in an organizational setting; or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.   Excellent written and oral communications and presentations skills required. Experience training in an adult learning environment preferred. Experience with online learning a plus.
     
    Language Skills

    Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and course curriculum. Ability to effectively present learning in a classroom environment to various levels of employees including management. Ability to effectively present classes online
     
    Mathematical Skills

    Basic Skills: Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to adequately instruct functions in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
     
    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
     
    Other

    Basic knowledge of computer use, basic record-keeping skills, good time management, classroom management, and excellent organizational skills. Excellent knowledge of instructional design theory, competency models, career pathways, and industry credentials. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with learners, staff, and management.   Must be able to successfully complete State background investigation and drug screen.
                  
    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    • Must have a valid state of Virginia driver’s license, and be able to provide proof of insurance. Additionally, 3+ point DMV record required to drive company vehicle.
