  • Overview

    Goodwill currently has an opening for Woodworker I. This employee will perform a variety of operational functions that constitutes the production of wood products for commercial customers using specialized tools & equipment.



    • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures
    • Adheres to all quality standards as outlined in the Quality Management System
    • Displays appropriate work ethics and provides positive influence on program individuals and coworkers
    • Follows direct instructions from supervisor
    • Works as part of a team
    • May work at multiple facilities
    • Performs operator level Preventive Maintenance on equipment
    • Reads job packet and work instructions and performs work as assigned by supervisor
    • Manufacture products such as Shipping Crates, Pallets, Outrigger Pads, Wood Components for Truck sleeper cabs
    • Cut, Drill, Bore, Sand, Grind, Paint, Fasten, Assemble wood and metal components
    • Operate equipment such as CNC & Pin Routers; Automated Pallet Machines; Heat Treat Chamber; Table, Band, Chop, Radial Arm, Gang & Mitre Saws; Notcher; Edgebander; Belt & Bench Grinders; Orbital Sander; Scissor Lift, Pallet Jack, Forklift, Wheel Loader
    • Use tools such as Air-Powered Nail & Staple Guns; Electric Drill/Driver; Paint Sprayer; Glue Gun; Dremel Tool; Hammer, Screwdriver, Tape Measure
    • Loads and unloads items from machines and carts
    • Gathers the materials needed to produce finished products
    • Observes and maintains process for First-In, First-Out (FIFO) of inventory items
    • Meets quotas and production standards
    • Affixes labels, logos and other exterior details to products
    • Packages completed products and prepares them for shipment
    • Observes and removes faulty product from assembly
    • Keeps equipment and work area clean and free of hazardous materials
    • Reports issues or problems with production to supervisor
    • Suggests fixtures and work station enhancements to improve safety, process and work flow




    Experience, Competencies and Education

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three months’ related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Forklift certification required.


    Language Skills

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.


    Mathematical Skills

    Basic Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to use and read a tape measure.


    Reasoning Ability

    Basic Skills:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
