  • Overview

    Goodwill currently has an opening for Store Manager at a retail location. The Store Manager bears the primary responsibility for ensuring proper operation of the retail store through maximizing sales in support of the mission of Goodwill.  

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

    • Provides decisive leadership in the retail store in the accomplishment of established goals. 
    • Leads with inclusiveness and promotes innovation in the work environment.
    • Directs and supervises store staff as needed to accomplish store goals.
    • Drives operations and maintains budget by controlling expenses; to be accomplished by ensuring standards are followed, labor costs are managed, and other expenses controlled. 
    • Daily monitoring of store retail report, making adjustments to production and inventory as necessary to facilitate maximum sales potential.
    • Oversees quality and quantity of goods going to sales floor.

    Customer Service

    • Provides superior customer service leadership by promptly responding to customer complaints and inquires appropriately.

    Administrative

    • Leads employees engaged in daily register and sales operations, reconciles cash with sales receipts, keeps operating records, and prepares a daily record of transactions ensuring accurate submission to accounting.
    • Plans and prepares work schedules, enters schedules into time and attendance system including holidays and paid time off.  Reconciles timecards for errors daily.  Approves and submits store payroll in time and attendance system in a timely manner.
    • Interviews, hires, and trains employees.  Responsible for terminations with the guidance from the District Manager and Human Resources.
    • Directs staffing, training, prepares and conducts performance evaluations.
    • Ensures compliance of policies, sales, productivity, and record keeping procedures and practices by all employees.

    Training and Development

    • Acquire a working knowledge of Store Operations Manual located on SharePoint to proficiently use as first point of reference.
    • Attends management meetings as required.
    • Completes all training required in a timely manner.

    Safety and Compliance 

    • Performs work tasks with safety and security in mind, reviewing surroundings and correcting safety concerns to contribute to a safe work environment.
    • Conducts thorough monthly store meetings and inspections.
    • Conducts regular safety meetings that include recall notice information. 
    • Stay current with recall notices provided through Store Manager email sent from the CPSC.  Provides a copy to the team by posting on the recall board and ensures proper filing of recall notices into the binders located in the processing room. 
    • Accurate and timely reporting of all customer and employee accidents and incidents, as well as property incidents following the appropriate written documentation procedures.
    • Timely reporting of store maintenance needs and requests for repairs.

    Additional Duties and Responsibilities

    • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested to support the mission of GIV.
    • Periodically performs work of fellow employees (approximately 20% of overall work time) in the accomplishment of established daily sales and production goals.

    Qualifications

     Experience, Competencies and Education

    • High School or general education degree (GED); with a minimum of 2 years of related management experience or supervisory experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
    • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, web based programs, and time and attendance system experience required.
    • Goodwill retail experience may replace supervisory experience requirement. 

    Certificates, Licenses, and Registration

    • CPR certified; training provided.
    • Drug screen collector certified; training provided.
    • Valid State of Virginia driver’s license and proof of insurance required to drive personal car on company business
