  • Overview

    Goodwill has an opening for a Part Time Administrative Assistant at our Roanoke Jobs Campus. This position serves as the Administrative Assistant to Mission Services team members and in support of Mission Services programs and services. 


    • Provide administrative support to the Mission Services Leadership team and other Mission Services staff members as needed. Coordinates the manning of the phones in Suite C of the Roanoke Jobs Campus with other clerical support staff and/or temporary employment agencies as needed.
    • Works with Virginia Western Community College to promote classes held at Roanoke Jobs Campus, scheduling classroom space, and preparing and sending monthly calendar.
    • Prepares notices for meetings of various employee, parent and other groups. Coordinates the activities including ordering food, scheduling meeting rooms, etc.
    • Assists with the entry of data into participant tracking software program. Must have understanding of the program and on occasion may be required to pull reports and other data from the system.  Assists with WAMS monitoring for Discovery Services programs.
    • Orders supplies for Mission Services team members at the Roanoke Jobs Campus. Maintains inventory and storage room.  Supplies include marketing materials and drug screen kits for three regional sites. 
    • Responsible for ordering business cards and name badges for Mission Services staff.
    • Serves as back up for retrieval of mail for Roanoke Jobs Campus in the morning hours as needed.
    • Assist with the preparation and promotion of Job Fairs as needed.
    • Adheres to agency’s safety policies and procedures.
    • Performs other duties as may be requested or needed.


    Experience, Competencies and Education

    • High school graduate or equivalent with additional education or training preferred.
    • Exceptional administrative, secretarial, typing and organizational skills.
    • Five or more years’ experience in the administrative/secretarial field.
    • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Windows Office products.
    • Excellent verbal, written and listening skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with employees, individuals in training programs and volunteers.

    Mathematical Skills

    • Basic mathematical skills are required.

    Reasoning Ability

    • Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (Formulas, equations, graphs, etc.,). Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.


    • Must be bondable, insurable, and hold a valid driver’s license.


    • A valid driver’s license and the ability to provide proof of insurance is required to drive a personal car on company business. Additionally, an acceptable motor vehicle record based on Goodwill guidelines is required to drive a company vehicle or to transport program participants.
    • Notary-not required but preferred.
